You're correct. This is a scary time. And I'm glad you mentioned Trump's previous debacle, the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Biden got stuck with it. He was (correctly) worried that if he changed the timeline, the Taliban would start killing American soldiers again, so he went through with it.

Trump's MO in nearly everything he's ever done is psychologically very strange. Early on he chose lying and, as time went by, he became the upside down guy, always choosing the opposite of what made sense. And now he appears to have serious dementia and all restraints from a functioning prefrontal cortex appear to be disappearing. The headline yesterday and today has him threatening members of Congress with sedition and death because they had the temerity to remind service members that by law they do not have to follow illegal or unconstitutional orders. That rule was explicitly added to military law after World War 2 because, well, you know, all the top Nazis said they were just following orders.

Trump's debacle with Putin in Alaska also demonstrates the President's declining executive function. He apparently honestly thought that by feating Putin with a red carpet and other nonsense, Putin would agree to his terms. Putin didn't even stay for lunch.

So here we have a bizarre capitulation agreement when Ukraine, with grit, intelligence, and freedom, now backed by an awakened Europe, is winning. That really is what you call insane.

Addendum: Reports have it that Trump’s latest idiot ultimatum to Ukraine was developed with Kushner and Witkoff in Florida, at meetings with certain Russian officials who were granted visa waivers so they could get into the country. Please read between the lines: What financial pay-off is hidden in this agreement for Trump?
