There's a quote I love, generally attributed to Niels Bohr, but sometimes others: "Prediction is very difficult, especially concerning the future." If you were paying attention, and I guess most people weren't, you should have known the game had changed when the Turks stopped a Russian armored advance in NW Syria in 2020 with Bayraktar TB2 drones.

I don't know where this 2nd current crazy war in the Middle East is going. Putin, though, should be looking for some pleasant little dacha in a foreign country. His spring offensive in Ukraine is going to flop. Why? Because his top down Soviet style dumb as bones military doctrine is being wiped out by an unleashed army of Ukrainian housewives and gamers and everybody else using intelligence and creativity and, yep, freedom of thought to beat these backward looking vodka drenched morons.

Trump vs. the Ayatollahs is another strange tale. It's another weird one. Both sides are looking backward rather than to the future, Trump wanting to go back to some mythical 1950s that never existed in the first place, and the Iranian theocrats to an ancient religious fantasy land where women can be murdered for not wearing little handkerchiefs on their heads. The Israelis, once the proudest future lookers, have also been hijacked by their own backward-looking religious extremists who think that their own deity will bring some non-existent golden age if they can just return to the borders they had in Roman times.

Meanwhile the climate is heating up as we return to the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere last experienced about 14-16 million years ago, in the Mid-Miocene, before not just us, but the entire Homo genus even existed.

It's better to look to the future instead of the past.

At least that's what I think.
