My take on the whole thing is this: Of course our own DEA knows that Venezuela and Columbia, their business is cocaine. The fentanyl comes from Mexican drug labs from chemicals they get from China. The Trump administration needed a cover story. Their real purpose has been to turn up the heat on Maduro, to convince him that the US means business in wanting to overthrow him.

If you know your history, it's not anything new. Look up the USS Turner Joy and the Gulf of Tonkin Incident Johnson used to get congressional authorization to escalate our involvement in Vietnam. Apparently there was no incident to begin with.
