It makes me wonder what the endgame is actually going to be? Putin and Gerasimov no doubt have some spring or summer offensive in the works. Ukraine of course knows this. The war is now in its 5th year, beyond what it even took to plant the Red Flag on the Reichstag in 1945. Putin, unless he's in lala land, and maybe he is, must know that if he doesn't produce results this time, he himself is cooked. And even though I disagree with Trump on everything, everyone also knows that the US military did what Putin failed at, in Venezuela, a surgical strike with about 100 (mainly Cuban!) fatalities and no US at all. Putin, in contrast, couldn't even take the local airport and who could forget the 65 km traffic jam on its way to Kyiv?
In my mind I'm thinking of Hitler running out of fuel in the Battle of the Bulge and then the sky clearing so the Yankees could get them. I'm also thinking of the Imperial German Navy mutinying in 1918.
Maybe the last helicopter leaving Saigon in 1975.
I don't know where Putin's helicopter can go to. I can make a joke here and mention hotels in Pyongyang, but in honesty, keep an eye on Kazakhstan.
There's another possibility. If you know your military history, Najibullah in Kabul after the Red Army abandoned him.
