All this is cute, but it still misses the point. We shouldn't be thinking about human brains (and trying to replicate them) but how about "just" a bumblebee's? And that's interesting. According to Google's AI Overview - and I realize the contradiction here! - The last common ancestor to human beings and bumblebees "was a tiny, worm-like marine creature, likely a basal bilaterian, that lived in the ocean around 600-800 million years ago."
OK, if you know any biology, you may see where I'm going: Either the basic neural architecture for actually distinguishing reality from hallucination was developed well over half a billion years ago in the Precambrian or... independently arrived at, perhaps in different ways. That's called convergent evolution.

Also, I disagree about somehow teaching some bizarre continent spanning artificial intelligence to care about us little fucks. First find out how we and the bumblebees, and I understand, perhaps the trees, too, know what's going on in the first place.
